May 13-15, 1998

History will always remember the Hitler and the Jewish holocaust that killed millions of Jews. Families still live till today and see clearly the horror of those darkest and helpless days of their life.

History will always remember everything that the human race tells it to write, although consciously and powerfully some of us try to manipulate the facts and truths contained in it. G30S will be among the list, where until this very day 200 millions of Indonesians have never been told that in the incident of September 30th in 1965, when Soeharto threw over the Indonesian Communist Party, which then also took over power from President Soekarno, there were 1 million innocent Indonesians slaughtered, being accused and slandered blindly that they were communists.

May 1998 was an intense month for politic in Indonesia. The Asian Crisis was not getting any gentler to the people of Indonesia. At the same time, the elite, the political players, knew that Soeharto's time was coming closer, and even Soeharto and his family also understood this. The system that Soeharto built worked just fine, therefore, the elite wanted to keep the system, and just changed the old guards. On the other hand, the people and the grass root, demanded total reformation, civil society and democratic system. People were tired being oppressed every day and being used all the time by the very government who were supposed to protect and serve them, by the system that Soeharto built for 30 years.

The following pictures provided by Tim Relawan (The Volunteer Team for Humanitarian Causes) speak very vividly about what took place during May 13-15 HOLOCAUST in Indonesia - Indonesian Holocaust.

Riots were engineered and executed very professionally and viciously. The urban poor were set to be trapped inside buildings and then burnt to dead by these unknown force (and yet they exist till this very day). At the end of the day, there were 2244 burnt bodies collected from various places in Indonesia.

Females from Ethnic Chinese descent, and those who look alike, were raped brutally, the kind of gang rapes that took place in Bosnia and East Timor.   Females were raped in front of their families by several people, some of them were killed after being sexually abused and mutilated. Male members of the family were forced to rape the female members of the family. Glasses, curtain rods, metal rods were used to mutilate the female private parts, after they were being raped. On and on are the reports.

People live with very little supplies these days in Indonesia, rapes are still taking place with no effort from government to stop this at all (should we translate the no-real-action from the Government of Indonesia, as their "blessing" to the most evil humiliation to the weakest members of society).

History is writing all these stories, even the stories of those who are very helpless and hopeless today. Victims and families are terrorized and intimidated, their phone lines are tab. Volunteer helpers are harassed and intimidated, including doctors and psychiatrists. The victims are prisoned and confined in their own little rooms, full of trauma and desperation, lonely and full of shame.

History is also writing that today millions of people around the world are not accepting this modern holocaust in Indonesia anymore.
