The Differences Between Religion and Christianity (1)
--------------------------------------------------

To some people Christianity appears to be little different
from other religions. They may view it as a sober lifestyle
that takes all the fun out of life. Or they may see it as a
long list of rules ad regulations. Some see it as a series
of steps to heaven, or classes in which the believer hopes
to make a passing grade before he dies. Still others see it
as a ritual of prayers and ceremonies.

But none of these things is Christianity. Genuine
Christianity centers around the gospel, which means "good
news." In fact, Christianity is the greatest news ever
announced. There are thousands of religions, denominations,
and philosophies, but only one gospel.

Religion is a process of reasoning by the human mind. The
gospel is revelation of the divine mind.

Religion originates on earth. The gospel originated in
heaven.

Religion is the story of what sinful man tries to do for a
holy God. The gospel is a wonderful story of what a Holy god
has done for sinful man.

Religion is good views, the opinions of mere men. The gospel
is good news, the declaration of a righteous and loving god.

Religion commences by trying to create an outward
reformation. The gospel begins by creating an inner
reformation.

Religion is based on the teachings of man. The gospel is not
based merely on the teachings of Jesus, but on His death,
burial, and resurrection. Jesus did not come to earth merely
to preach the gospel, but rather that there might be a
gospel to be preached.

We can put a label on our ID, as a Protestant, Catholic,
Muslim, Hindu, or Jew, but that does not mean anything.
Without God, man is incomplete.

The Differences Between Religion and Christianity (2)
-----------------------------------------------------

The following illustration explains what it means to be born
again and to have a relationship with God through His Son
Jesus Christ. It's about a man who many years ago was
discovered pacing back and forth in fornt of the gate to the
White House. Occasionally he'd stop and ask the guardk if
there was any way he could see the President to give him a
most urgent message. But the guard just shook his head and
turned away.

A little boy was sitting on a bench by the gate, watching
this take place. As the man continued to pace, the boy
finally walked up to him and asked,"Mister, are you worried
about something? Are you in trouble?" The man stopped in
surprise, then put his hand on the child's head and
said,"Yes, Sonny, I am. I must see the President, but there
is no way that I can get to him."

The boy said to the man,"Take my hand." While he was tempted
to ignore the boy, he dicided to humor him by following his
suggestion. with the boy's hand in that of the man, the
guard bowed and the great gate swung open. The young boy led
the amazed man into the inner sanctum of the President's
study. Through that boy-the President's son- the man gained
access to the President.

This is exactly how we gain access to God-through His Son.
When we establish a personal relationship with Jesus Christ,
He takes each of us by the hand and personally lead us into
the presence of His Father.

Perhaps for the first time you understand that Christianity
is not long list of do's and don'ts, but rather spiritual
relationship with the Son of God.

Jesus is a gentleman. He will not force His way into your
life; He enters only by invitation. If you are ready to
receive Him, pray that you welcome Him to enter your life
today.
